With ships burning heavy fuel oil, it is important to know about viscosity of fuel oil and its effects on an engine. Without the knowledge of typical fuel systems and the types of controllers that are used to control the fuel supply, engines can be damaged or run less efficiently.

Introducing learners to the various subjects related to automation control, this course focusses on viscosity control in general, including the main fuel oil system, tuning three-term controllers and viscosity systems.
