Bilge water separator, Part 2

49,00

Failure to observe the correct procedures for discharging engine room bilge water leads to pollution, equipment failure, and in cases of neglect, to heavy fines or imprisonment.

In this course on bilge water separators, we take a close look at separators which operate using the principles of separation by gravity, coalescing, and flocculation. We also look at the oil content monitor, the limitations on what settings we can adjust onboard, and how the installation of a ‘white box’ system can be used to give evidence of compliance with regulations.

On completion of this course you will receive a Verification of Training from Ocean Technologies Group powered by Marlins, Seagull and Videotel.

Learning objectives:

  • You will recognize what is meant by a ‘White Box’ system
  • You will identify the working principles and main components of a flocculation type bilge separator
  • You will recognize the working principles of an oil content monitor and what factors may affect its accuracy
  • You will identify the working principles and main components of a membrane type bilge separator
