Fresh Water System Sanitation looks at the correct methods of sanitizing and maintaining fresh water facilities on board a vessel. Considering the causes and effects of pollutants and contaminants, we explore the components of a fresh water management system and the necessary cleaning procedures.

This course will introduce the learner to a fresh water management plan for a vessel. The plan includes maintenance of a vessel’s fresh water storage tanks, pipework and pumping systems, and the treatment and testing of water. Learners will be introduced to the dangers of poorly treated water and what records should be kept on board a vessel.
