Garbage and waste management

This course is aimed at changing the behavior of crew so that they are aware of their responsibilities to the environment and to keep them safe. The aim of this course is to ensure that learners are aware of the regulatory requirements regarding garbage disposal, the possible consequences of disposing of garbage incorrectly and are aware of the dangers that can arise if incinerators are not used correctly.

On completion of this course you will receive a Verification of Training from Ocean Technologies Group powered by Marlins, Seagull and Videotel.

Learning objectives:

• Identify how garbage is categorized under MARPOL Annex V
• List the conditions that must be met before discharging garbage overboard
• Identify the special areas for garbage under MARPOL Annex V
• Recognize the dangers of not using garbage disposal equipment correctly
• Recognize the threats to the environment from garbage and the other consequences of disposing of garbage incorrectly
