From the early days of the shipping industry, lifting and slinging has been a common shipboard operation. However with new equipment and differing loads, injuries still occur especially in the offshore business.

The purpose of this course is to provide seafarers with basic knowledge required for safe use of lifting and slinging equipment.

This course provides knowledge on roles and responsibilities of those involved with lifting and slinging on an offshore vessel. It includes the content found in a lifting plan, communication techniques and the main risks and hazards that are involved in a lifting operation.
