RORO, Cargo lashing

There have been several major incidents related to insufficient lashings. The consequences are critical and can result in loss of life and ship. It can also result in environmental damages and loss of reputation.

The aim of this title is to raise awareness and provide the knowledge required to reduce the risk of such incidents to happen.

• Understand the importance of correct lashings
• Be aware of the risks/dangers involved when lashing equipment is worn out or damaged.
• Understand the importance of lashing / cargo securing inspection whilst underway at sea.
• Understand when loose lashing equipment is worn out and when to dispose such equipment.
