Seafarers Hospital Society, Fit and Healthy at Sea

0,00

Working as a seafarer comes with many challenges. The risk of work-related injuries is high, and the remote nature of life at sea can make accessing treatment difficult. That’s why it’s essential to focus on preventative exercises that help reduce the risk of injuries caused by the physically demanding and repetitive tasks of the job.

In this course, The Seafarers Hospital Society presents a series of simple exercises that can be performed in small spaces. These exercises are aimed at improving general mobility and preventing injuries from repetitive movements. They require no special equipment and are demonstrated by a qualified physiotherapist, who also explains their benefits.

Learning objectives:

  • Recognize ongoing pain and seek advice
  • Recognize the value of preventative exercise which keeps them healthy while working
  • Recognize the value of stretching regularly, twice daily for best results, to reduce risk of injury
  • Understand the importance of a regular gentle exercise regime and feel empowered to stay fit and healthy at sea
