This course covers the characteristics, hazards and necessary precautions required when a ship is contracted to carry any of the three most common bulk cargoes: Coals, iron ores and grains. Safety precautions before and after loading are fully described.

  • On-voyage monitoring of methane, oxygen, carbon monoxide and bilge water acidity.
  • On-voyage monitoring of tank atmosphere and bilge levels and recording bilge water discharges

  • The International Grain Code, grain shifting moments, loading grain, silver nitrate test, fumigation, and precautions during the voyage
