The need for training the crew in how to avoid these incidents is obvious. This course describes the worldwide systems in place to help a vessel avoid heavy weather and the on board preparations when heavy weather is expected.

This course describes the worldwide systems in place to help a vessel avoid heavy weather and the on board preparations when heavy weather is expected. It is given guidance on the size and effects of environmental forces on a vessel by comparing them with engine and tug forces. Comprehensive advice on mitigating the effects of heavy weather when navigating in ocean, coastal and pilotage areas and guidance on the actions to take if a vessel is damaged in heavy weather and the global systems in place to support such a vessel.
