Risk assessment and management

This course covers how to put risk assessment into practice on board ship without being too complicated. Users will understand that risk assessment is a useful tool that helps prevent accidents, incidents and injuries where possible. This e-learning module is a part of our Onboard Course “Safety, Health and Environment”.

The purpose of this training program is to provide the users with knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessment and Risk Management. The idea is to heighten awareness of safety issues and get people to think about job hazards and how they can be controlled. The module has focused on what you can do in your daily work, to identify the risks involved, and how you can work around them. This module is one of five modules that are part of Seagull’s “Safety, Health and Environment” onboard training course.

Learning objectives:

• You will recognize what ISM Code is
• You will recognize the reasons why there has to be proper shipboard management in place
• You will learn that the ISM code is there to help protect a vessel
• You will learn how having a positive safety culture helps safeguard a vessel and its crew
• You will identify that company procedures are there to protect a vessel
