Workshop safety

We might all use the workshop on board from time to time. But the workshop can be a dangerous place, full of hazards that can cause harm to us and to others.

In this course we are going to look at the common dangers found in a workshop at sea, the precautions we need to take in the workshop, and the types of personal protective equipment we need to use.

• Identify the dangers commonly found in the workshop
• Use the correct PPE at all times in the workshop
• Understand the need for good housekeeping
• List the safety precautions to be taken in the workshop
