Exhaust Gas Scrubbers, safe operation

135,00

The implementation of the IMO 2020 Sulphur limit has meant that many ships are now being fitted with Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems (EGCS) based on Scrubbers. Both IMO and OCIMF have identified the potential safety hazards associated with EGCS and stated that crews should be adequately trained to identify and avoid these hazards.

This course will recap the purpose of scrubbers, and outline how open loop, closed loop and hybrid types operate. The title will prepare learners for the hazards associated with scrubber operation, and the precautions which they must take to protect themselves and others.

Learning objectives:

  • Recap the purpose of Scrubbers
  • Outline how open loop, closed loop, and hybrid scrubbers operate
  • State the precautions that must be taken when handling the chemicals associated with scrubber operation
  • Be aware of the hazards associated with scrubbers
