Gas carrier, Basic principles

Gas Carriers have an enviable safety record,  but this can only be maintained if all of those involved in cargo operations know how these cargoes are carried and how their safety systems operate. This course will help become familiar with the methods for carrying gas cargoes and the essential safety features required for this type of vessel.

This course describes the safety systems and basic designs of cargo containment and cooling systems used on modern gas carriers. The training course outlines the essential processes of inerting, purging, gas freeing and pre cooling.

• Identify the essential safety features of the cargo systems on gas carriers
• List the basic steps required before and during loading and discharging cargo on a gas carrier
