Personal safety in cold environments

50,00

With Global warming, there has been an increased use of the Arctic region especially, by all elements of the maritime community.  With the increasing number of vessels operating in cold water regions, there are more seafarers at risk from the effects of the cold. Without proper training, these seafarers are adversely affected in their day to day work and are less likely to survive when an accident occurs.

Outlining how the human body responds when exposed to cold, this course identifies the types of clothing and personal protective equipment that should be used in cold weather. It also increases the learner’s knowledge of cold water hazards to improve their chances of survival.
