SCBA, Effective control in an emergency

In any fire or emergency incident, no matter its size or location, SCBA control board procedures must be implemented as soon as a decision is made to use breathing apparatus.

This course describes the functions of the board and the essential behaviors required from the Control Board Officer to ensure SCBA teams are safe during any emergency.

• Identify the elements of a BA control board and state their function
• State the procedures for controlling the safe deployment of fire and rescue teams equipped with SCBA sets
• Identify the factors affecting the effective use and working duration of SCBA in emergencies
• State the command and control structure and communication requirements between BAECO, SCBA teams and other teams in the shipboard emergency organization
