SEEMP Part III

MARPOL Annex VI require operators of applicable ships to calculate and report the attained annual operational CII for the ship from 2024 onwards, according to the methodology included in the vessel’s Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP Part III). The CII requirements are in addition to the existing MARPOL Annex VI fuel oil consumption data (IMO DCS) requirements.

A SEEMP Part III is required to be in compliance with ‘2022 Guidelines for the Development of a Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP)’ – IMO resolution MEPC.346(78).

The main of this course is to outline the requirements of parts I, II and III of the SEEMP, and identify the specific requirements of SEEMP part III.

• Identify the main requirements of a SEEMP part III, and outline the requirements of the three year plan for the ship’s CII
• Identify the sources for information on the SEEMP and CII
• Outline the IMO’s targets for reducing Greenhouse Gasses
• State the purpose of each of the three parts of the SEEMP, and which ships they apply to
• Identify who approves each of the three parts of the SEEMP
