Separators, S-type separator

Correct operation of fuel oil and lubricating oil separators is essential for two reasons. Firstly, the cleanliness of the oil is vital to the correct operation and long life of marine machinery. Secondly, because of the very high rotational speeds of separators, it is important that operators recognize the signs of any imbalance and take the correct action in a prompt manner.

This course has been produced in association with Unitest a world leading manufacturer of engine room simulators. After a quick recap of the basics of working principles and operation of the ALFA Laval S-type separation system, the module features animation showing the correct operation of the S-type separator, including normal start-up, shutdown and emergency actions.
