Team Leadership

The goal of this course is to enhance the competence requirements of STCW and to improve best industry practice when it comes to leadership and management training. The focus is on the development of organizational, personal and social competences among junior and senior officers.

Maximizing the potential of multi-skilled crews can only happen if the leadership style within an organization follows an effective management philosophy and approach, which may be quite different from those applied 30 or 40 years ago. A group of multi-skilled crew will function more effectively if they are allowed the freedom and control over their own efforts, to apply their expertise, skills and techniques in accomplishing their own individual tasks. Subordinates must be capable of and often given the authority to act on their own initiative. This module will help develop the required skills to effectively tackle leadership issues.
