Venting Systems on Chemical Tankers

Chemical tankers carry various grades of petrochemical cargoes that have vapors with either safety or pollutant hazards. Some means of venting that are fitted on Venting of tanks during cargo-related operations must be carried out in accordance with applicable international, national and port regulations.

This course has been developed for deck officers serving on chemical tankers to give a clear understanding of the loading and unloading operations, associated safety precautions, the importance of maintenance and inspections, and the purpose of both primary and secondary venting systems.

Venting systems on board a chemical tanker need to be inspected at regular intervals and maintained to work in perfect order.
