High Voltage (Operational Level) Training Course
150,00 €
STCW 2010 recognizes the increasing use of high voltage (HV) electricity on ships with new requirements for all engineer and electrical officers to be familiar with HV. In addition the new ranks of Electro-Technical Rating and Able Seamen Engine are required to understand the risks associated with HV electricity. In order to safeguard workers and other people on board, special STCW requirements for training are needed when working with high voltage. With the increasing number of these types of systems on ships, the consequences of small mistakes are even more present than before. The majority of courses offered on High Voltage are land based courses.
The objective is to give seafarers an opportunity to take High Voltage training onboard or in controlled environment. The main aim of the course is to give the essential education and training in high voltage to meet the Knowledge, Understanding and Proficiency (KUP) requirements set out in the specific part of Table A-III/1.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Describe the hazards associated with high voltage
- Explain the terms Authorized and Competent personnel
- Identify the difference between an ordinary and a high voltage permit to work
- Describe the isolation process required to produce a high voltage Permit to work
- State what is considered to be high voltage and typical voltages found on ships
- Outline the reasons why modern vessels are equipped with high voltage generators.
- Explain the difference between insulated & earthed neutral distribution systems
- State which circuits will operate at high voltage
- Explain the function of the protection devices and their sequence of operation
