IMO GHG Reduction measures, CII and EEXI

The IMO have set ambitious targets for the reduction of GHG emissions and two measurements of the carbon emissions from ships will come into force by 2023. These are the CII and EEXI. Ships staff need to be aware of the IMO’s GHG reduction strategy, and the measures which may be necessary to meet the targets set by the IMO.

This course describes two new measures from the IMO designed to help achieve their GHG reduction targets, the Carbon Intensity Indicator, CII, and Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI). The module also lists possible measures which may need to be implemented to enable ship’s to meet the IMO’s targets for carbon emission reduction.
